I grew up in South Florida so I did not experience my first real winter until freshman year of college. Brrrrr.
I spent most of my childhood riding horses and competing in AQHA equestrian competitions. Teaching riding lessons helped me realize I want to become a teacher. Also, I think animals are a great tool to use with kids because animals can teach them responsibility, respect, and love.
Because south Florida public schools are not that terrific, I went to private school. This gives me no experience with standardized testing, but I think it gives me a unique perspective on the classroom and not using a structured curriculum.
I am really enjoying this class because I think technology is giving us tools and resources to revolutionize the classroom.
I worry about the public education system in this country because I feel like we are just putting band-aids on top off a really big problem. I do not claim to know how we should start to fix this, but I am afraid of what will happen if no one tries.
